Immortality is a biographical account of my experiences of breast cancer over the past six years – how it has affected my life, my loves and my circumstances, and those of the people closest to me.
It is a very frank and honest account and may, at times, appear to put me in a bad light. But as life has a habit of doing, things come full circle.
Having survived breast cancer, bone and liver cancer, as well as a brain tumour thus far, I still do not claim to be an expert on the subject by any means; but I hope it gives readers, particularly fellow cancer sufferers, an insight into the disease – the highs and lows, peaks and troughs – and helps them in some small way to cope with their own illness, and the effects of it, themselves.
This book has been inspired by the exceptional care I have received from The Royal Marsden Hospital. If it weren’t for them, I would not be here today and this book would never have been written.
As a hospital, The Marsden is, in my opinion, unrivalled. Their standard of care is second to none and as I say in the book, ‘I cannot praise them enough’. In gratitude for their services to me and thousands of other cancer sufferers, I would like to donate a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of this book to them.
